About us
BioSniff, in dogs we trust!
Amazed by the intelligence and sense of smell of the dogs that have always been at home, and in love with nature since they were little, BioSniff arises from the union of two passions, with the main objective of protecting our environment. We offer solutions with the method of eco-detector dogs to carry out our objectives in bioconservation or pest and invasive species detection programs.

Our team
Currently our team consists of five canine members and five human members.

Founder & CEO
Didac Segura Muñoz
From a young age, he was a lover of animals and nature. He studied Biology, later completing various courses in canine behavior training and modification, and a master's degree as an instructor of working canine units. To this day, he continues his professional development in the world of dogs.
With over ten years in this field, and more than five in animal shelters and rescue centers for lost and abandoned animals, he has learned from them, their behaviors, needs, and how to improve their well-being. From the beginning, he specialized in detection, first with rescue teams and later in eco-detection. At BioSniff, he has successfully combined his two passions.
He is currently pursuing a master's degree in Terrestrial Ecology and Biodiversity Management.

Founder and dog guide
Laura Olid Garcia
Together with Uma, they are the latest team to train at BioSniff. A training and project partner, she is a biologist specializing in wildlife conservation, passionate about animals, nature, and painting. She has over 15 years of experience in wild animal rehabilitation.

Dog trainer and specialist in ethology and animal learning
María Paz Deleris Iturria
Her passion for animals and nature began in childhood and, over time, became her profession. For more than ten years, she has dedicated herself to animal welfare and behavior, with training as a veterinary assistant and dog trainer, and ongoing specialization in ethology and animal learning.
Passionate about literature and philosophy, she also works in outreach and communication, uniting science, ethics and education to promote a more respectful relationship between people, animals and nature.

Veterinarians
Daniel Pacho Pacho and Marcelo Cabrera
The veterinarians at BioSniff not only ensure that all canine components are in perfect condition, but they also analyze each project for potential items and variables that could affect the health of our dogs, allowing us to be better prepared and proactive.

Uma
Born in 2017, she joined BioSniff in 2024. She has quickly adapted to her role as a bed bug detection dog, and her progress has been really good.

Kala
Born in November 2015 and rescued from an industrial park in 2016, she was initially very afraid of people. With work and love, we've managed to teach her to love being petted and she's always seeking it out.
Her initial detection skills were based on truffles, purely for fun. Currently, she has other associated scents, such as bed bugs, which has already helped us in some inspections.

Bruna
The team's oldest member, rescued from the street, spent some time in a shelter for lost animals until we adopted her in 2015.
We quickly began associating her with the smell of bed bugs, and she has successfully carried out many inspections. Later, we also started a project to detect Asian hornet nests.

Nym
Nym is the latest addition to the BioSniff team, adopted from a shelter in Bilbao.
Currently, Nym is involved in BioSniff's final master's project, which focuses on a comparison between different groups of dogs and its application in environmental impact studies.
Their incorporation is part of BioSniff's commitment to the use of rescued and adopted dogs in conservation and detection projects, focusing on animal welfare and responsible reintegration.

Indio
Indio is a Border Collie (2024) who was rescued by the Cunit animal shelter on December 28th, after being found on the street. His name pays homage to María Paz's Uruguayan roots and proudly reclaims a word often used pejoratively: Indio Charrúa, a symbol of strength, connection to the land, respect for nature, and love for Uruguay.
Strong, brave, and tireless, Indio finds his happiness in the countryside, rivers, and open spaces. His name also evokes the Indus River and water, an element that represents life, movement, and a deep connection with nature. More than a companion, he is a constant source of inspiration and an essential part of the spirit that gives meaning to this project.
